Your multi-engine rating: a new challenge!
You will be instructed to fly a two engine aircraft with piston engines (MEP = multi piston engine) which prepares you to move on to any other multi-engine aircraft. Based on the training and the rating you can earn additional ratings such as the Cessna Citation rating at our partner in Linz/Austria (LOWL).
Why the multi-engine rating? Well, there are good and valid reasons. – A desire to fly faster, safer, higher (above the weather), more comfortably; to prepare for the jet rating, or quite simply to enhance your proficiency.
We will show you everything you need to know for the multi-engine rating and will train you and prepare you for the check ride. You will realise all the new horizons that open up for you!
Let´s talk about some abbreviations
abbreviation | description |
---|---|
SEP | single engine piston – all single engine aircraft with piston engines |
MEP | all multi-engine aircraft with piston engines |
HPA | aircraft which have been assigned the High Performance Aircraft status and which therefore require special theoretical training, if you are not yet holding a jet or equivalent rating. So, typically, if you are holding a SEP rating and wish to fly a turbine single engine aircraft you will have to train for the HPA qualification |
JET’s | basically, there are two kinds of jet aircraft, single hand and all others requiring a crew of two pilots. Also with a PPL you will be able to fly a jet non-commercially, provided you earn the additional rating. If you are aiming for a jet rating, the MEP rating might be the first step towards the jet rating because 1. You will be building up experience in multi-engine operation, and 2. You can save money flying the cheaper MEP. |
